Suitable for retrofit installations, the shades feature Triathlon Battery Life technology, which uses hybrid drive design and an efficient standby power system that is said to extend battery life to three years using standard D batteries. There are several options available, including those that work with the company’s RadioRA 2 and HomeWorks QS total home control platforms as well as Lutron’s GRAFIK Eye QS. Luxul is now shipping the first models in its new Xen family of high-perfor-mance 802.11n wireless access points. The line’s products, powered by the company’s Xen3D technol-ogy, are said to deliver 10 times the power of standard Wi-Fi gear and to enhance high data throughput coverage by as much as 400 percent. Multiple application-specific models for various needs are available for installation within or on walls or ceilings, and there are also models earmarked for commercial and outdoor use. From MechoShade Home Systems comes its UrbanShade quiet motor shade system with integrated control capability, designed to be easily recon-figured in the field. The technology allows for installation as a manual shade with the option to upgrade at a later date, via a conversion kit, to motorization, without having to make amendments to the shade cloth, tube or housing. The Panamax MD2-ZB smart plug provides energy monitoring, load control, scheduled con-servation, and surge protection in a compact form factor that plugs directly into any standard 120V, 15A outlet. Utilizing ZigBee® wireless communications, the MD2-ZB can be moni-tored, controlled and programmed via Panamax/ Furman’s cloud-based BlueBOLT® platform (with BB-ZIGBEE gateway) or ZigBee-compatible third-party control systems. RTI ’s award-winning RTiPanel app will soon be available for Android™ devices. Compatible with Android smartphones and tablets of any screen size, the app boasts unique features such as two-way feedback, a customizable user interface, and highly optimized con-nection speeds to provide complete con-trol over any RTI control system with an XP series control processor. Savant is touting its SmartEnergy Monitor energy-management platform; the first prod-uct from the company is the SEM-1024. Working in real time, it measures energy usage and production and can also provide a history of usage from multiple energy-man-agement devices. While designed to optimize energy efficiency, it also helps to maintain preferred temperature settings in the home. The Monitor links with a home’s main electrical panel through clip-on current transformers, and transmits data to a Savant SmartSystem via LAN. All data are viewable on iPads either locally or remotely. The system is scalable, and the base configuration supports 24 current transformers. Somfy is in the process of preparing drivers that will work with its recently introduced Glydea ZigBee plug-in module, designed to enable control by third-party automation systems. The new module provides complete, embedded ZigBee control of the Somfy line of Glydea drap-ery motors. It attaches to the base of Glydea 35 and 60e motors and is also compatible with the ZigBee Pro Stack feature set. URC has just rounded out its IP-based Total Control whole-house con-trol system with the shipment of its SNP-1 streaming network player. The player lets system users access music services such as Pandora, SiriusXM and Internet radio stations through a variety of URC interfac-es, including Total Control remotes, touch screens and in-wall keypads. The component works in tandem with URC amps to deliver uncom-pressed music and synchronized audio throughout a home. Vantage has made future-ready enhancements to its InFusion lighting solution, which also offers backward compatibility to legacy Vantage systems. In-field firmware upgrades and dealer service alerts are some of the benefits of the update.
